Databases and Indexes
Users of Swem Library have electronic access to over 300 journals and magazines of interest to physicists (see the list of physical science journal subject headings).
Databases aggregate information from many journals, and may include information on articles that are not available electronically or through Swem's website. If you cannot access a journal electronically through a database, try using the Catalog to find it. if Swem doesn't have the journal, you may request it through InterLibrary Loan.
These databases are available through Swem to the William and Mary community.
- Web of Science
Information gathered from thousands of scholarly journals in all areas of research. This database only includes articles that have been published since 1994. - PROLA The Physical Review Online Archive (PROLA) is the American Physical Society's online archive for Physical Review Letters, Reviews of Modern Physics, and Physical Review A–E. It contains all APS journal articles published from 1893.
- ScienceDirect Multidisciplinary sciences, with some humanities and social sciences. Searches and provides electronic access to Scholarly journals published by Elsevier.
- SpringerLink Biomedicine, life science, clinical medicine, physics, engineering, mathematics, computer science, humanities, and economics. 1,200 peer-reviewed journals published by Springer-Verlag
- Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA)
GEOREF, Life sciences, environmental and aquatic sciences, computer sciences, materials sciences and engineering, aerospace; also includes a few social sciences databases, such as Sociological Abstracts, ERIC, and Linguistics and Language Behavior. - More Physical Sciences Databases Swem's list of databases of use to physical scientists
